Carnarvon

Carnarvon is a small town on the Gasgoyne River. The area around Carnarvon is known as the ‘salad bowl’ of Western Australia due to the large amount of crops grown in the area. Carnarvon also rose to fame during the ‘space race’ where the purpose built dish was used to help track the landing on the moon.

We ventured out on the One Mile Jetty. It was originally built for loading wool onto ships. They have a train to ride the length of the jetty, called the Coffee Pot Train. We also enjoyed the fresh fruit and vegetables at the Farmer’s Market held on Saturdays at the Civic Centre in town.
